Macrame is coming back!! I’m sure you’ve noticed.

I remember so many plant hangers on my Grandma’s back porch. I loved the look of macrame back then, and I love it now. These macrame plant hangers are so full of texture and style. It is a fun way to make a small space bright and lively. The simple knots and cords are so easy learn, and you will find a nice variety of simple projects in this post. You don’t have to be an experienced crafter to learn this little hobby!

Macrame Plant Hanger Patterns

Macrame is relaxing to craft, and also adds a sense of relaxation to the room you hang your design. Having live plants and greenery in your home is stunning and refreshing, and you can tailor your design to match your style. Macrame cord (cotton twine , rope, jute, or nylon paracord could be used)
Scissors

Here’s a quick idea of how to get started!

Setting Up

You’ll start your plant hanger project with a ring or loop. You will want to find something sturdy to attach it to, in order to keep your project in place while you start knotting. This could be taped down to a table, hooked to a doorknob, or even closed into the top of a door if you prefer to stand!

Measuring the Cord or Rope

First thing you’ll want to do is measure and cut your rope. I love all the colors you can find HERE. Look at your project for instructions on how much cord to cut. It will give you the number of cords to cut and how long to cut each one. Getting this over with first, makes the project go so much more smoothly.

Hanging the Planter

Finishing the project and hanging the planter will be the most satisfying part of it all! Macrame Plant hangers can be hung from the ceiling using a ceiling hook. Other favorite ways to hang them are from a hook on a shelf, such as dowel rod, or from a planter hook attached to the wall. Always try to find a stud to screw your hook into to make it secure and supported!
