5 Easy Hair Hacks Every Girl Should Know
We all know we get lazy sometimes when we do our hair – especially if you have long hair! To be honest, there are some days I do NOT want to have to deal with my hair! I am a lazy girl and love finding shortcuts when it comes to doing my hair every morning š
1 – Use cornstarch as dry shampoo
I love this hack! In the winter, I don’t like to wash my hair EVERY day because . . . who wants soaking wet hair in the freezing cold weather?? The days I skip washing my hair, I just sprinkle a little bit of cornstarch on my scalp and massage it in with my fingertips! The cornstarch will absorb the oils from your hair and make your hair look less greasy!
*For brunettes – mix in a little cocoa powder with the cornstarch to get your ‘dry shampoo’ to be a little closer to your hair color.
2 – Tease your bangs
Yes, seriously!! I have been doing this the past few months and it has made such a difference! I have fairly soft and limp bangs – they normally lose their shape halfway through the day and end up flat š I don’t like to always load them with hairspray or product, so I started teasing them just a touch with this teasing brush at the roots before I run the straightener through them. I’m not lying – they stay all.day.long!
3 – Braid the top layer of hair for texture
I typically shower at night and let my hair dry while I’m sleeping. Sometimes, I feel like I need a little texture to my hair – so I braid the top layer from one ear to the other (like a headband) after I shower. When I wake up in the morning, I take out the braid; when I pull my hair back into a messy bun, my hair looks textured and I didn’t have to use any heat or products!
4 – Shampoo, Condition, Shampoo
So everyone knows that ‘reverse washing’ is all the rage right now (condition first then shampoo). I’ve been doing it for the past year and my hair has felt a bit less oily. Lately tho, I have been noticing a little bit of product buildup on my scalp š So I decided to try shampooing my hair first {to really get everything out – hairspray, mousse, etc.} THEN conditioning {just in the bottom 2/3 of my hair} THEN shampooing again {just gently on the very top of my head}. And it worked! Now I do this all the time and the buildup on my scalp has decreased! Yay!!
5 – Use aloe vera gel as a conditioner
My brother actually just recently introduced me to this one! Sounds crazy doesn’t it?? Just rub some aloe vera gel onto your scalp, let it sit for 30-60 minutes and rinse with warm water. Aloe vera has so many healing purposes for hair – it helps promote hair growth, reduce dandruff, and condition the scalp. I got my aloe vera at Wal-Mart, but you can get it on Amazon for a pretty decent price!
Thanks for compiling some tips for us blondes! I feel like my “dirty blonde” hair goes greasy if I just look at it…I’m always a little jealous of brunettes who can go days without their hair looking limp and greasy. ????
Same here – my hair gets greasy very quickly! Glad I could help you out š
