These coffee filter flowers are a FUN craft for kids! You can start with colored coffee filters like I did, or let kids color them themselves…. whatever you choose, they are sure to enjoy making these coffee filter flowers. Let the kids decorate your classroom or daycare with them or let them make them to give to people. It’s a simple craft that once they learn the easy steps in making, they will want to just keep making more! Make a bunch of them and it sure makes a cute flower bouquet!
Here’s what you need:
I first started by dyeing my coffee filters in all sorts of pretty colors. This post will tell you the easy steps to create colorful coffee filters that you can use for making lots of crafts.

Here are the simple steps listed out:
(please refer to the pictures above for a clear explanation)
- Start with a colored basket style coffee filter
- Fold it in half like a taco.
- Crease it on the fold.
- Fold it in half again.
- Crease it on the fold.
- Open it back out.
- In the right quarter of the circle, place your pipe cleaner.
- Add some pieces of clear scotch tape to hold the pipe cleaner.
- Fold it back over.
- Add clear scotch tape to keep the edges together.
- Fluff it out, separating it and fluffing it until it is like you like it. (I like to give the base a little pinch.)
***if you want fuller looking flowers, start with two coffee filters together from the start.
