This square frame wreath cost me less than $20 and I love how it turned out. Oh, and I made it in under an hour. Learn how to make a yarn wreath right now!
I really love that this wreath is a bit different in that it is SQUARE! Kinda unique, right?
Let me show you how to make it!
HOW TO MAKE A YARN WREATH
I started with a 14″ metal square wreath frame! Like THIS ONE.
And I used IRRESISTABLE YARN by Red Heart. I used the oatmeal , but it comes in several colors! They even have this denim color that l love. I used less than 1 skein fo this project.
The cute unfinished wood heart I found at Joann’s in their Valentines seasonal items. This one is very similar!
You’ll also need a little some acrylic paint to paint your heart whatever color you want.
Last thing you need is some ribbon, something like this.
Dig into the center of your ball of yarn until you find an end. Using the end, start weaving the thick puffy yarn through the metal frame, like this:
Go in one direction, then in the opposite direction, weaving in and out until you get to the corner. In each corner, I did a few extra ‘weaves’ to make the corner look full. Once you have the corner area how you want it, continue on to the next side.
Once you finish weaving around the entire square, you’ll want to pull your ends in through the back to secure them.
Next, paint your heart and let it dry. Then attach it to the front of the wreath, in one corner at an angle, using hot glue or twist ties.
Take your ribbon and tie a bow around the top of your wreath frame. Tie another piece of ribbon on each side of the top to make a hanger.
