$2 DIY Custom Frame
Have you ever seen those cheap wood frames, usually for $1 or less at craft stores? Well, I was looking for some low cost ideas to decorate the faux floating shelves my husband and I recently added to our living room. I LOVE how they turned out btw!!! We were walking around Michaels and I noticed a $1 wood frame in a cute shape… how could I make this work?
Across the aisle was the scrapbook paper… in ALL kinds of colors, designs, and prints! cha-ching!!!!
I chose a piece that matched my living room decor. I knew I already had some white paint and modpodge at home, so that was all I needed to get.
DIRECTIONS:
I started by painting the entire frame white. Using spray paint, this took no time at all.
Next, I placed the frame upside down on the back side of my scrapbook paper and traced the shape.
Then I cut it out and began modpodging it to the frame, (I like the matte mod podge) being sure to do several light coats to keep it from bubbling up.
Once I had done several coats, it was time to stick in a picture! And then ready to place on one of my shelves. Seriously, a simple and cute project. This would be a great project to do with a girl to match her room decor.
Look through the pictures below for a basic how-to. I can’t wait to try so many more prints!
