CRACKER BARREL COPYCAT RECIPE – BRUSSEL SPROUTS N KALE SALAD – SHREDDED BRUSSEL SPROUTS AND KALE, CRAISINS, AND PECANS, DRESSED IN A MAPLE VINAIGRETTEHave you tried this new side at Cracker Barrel? It’s a delicious healthy salad of shredded brussel sprouts and kale, craisins, and crunchy pecans, all dressed in a maple vinaigrette. And it’s so easy to make at home! I put this recipe together and it tastes just like the real deal 🙂
You’ll just need 4 basic ingredients for the salad: brussel sprouts, kale, craisins, and pecans.
Shred or chop the brussel sprouts and kale as thinly as possible. You want them to be like shaved strands. You should have fairly equal amounts of kale and brussel sprouts.
Toast the pecans in a skillet over high heat for 60-90 seconds. Add the pecans and the craisins to the bowl.
Next mix up the maple vinaigrette and pour it over the salad.
Toss salad until coated in vinaigrette and let sit in fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
That’s it! Such an easy and tasty fresh healthy side. 🙂

I had some curly kale in my garden and some brussels sprouts in the fridge. I need a salad to go with the main dish (15 bean soup) for supper. Since I had all the ingredients I decided to try your recipe. I tasted it when it was put together, and added a little sea salt and freshly ground pepper (to suit my taste). It is very good, even before it marinates. I will be making this again! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I made this tonight and it was delicious without waiting for 4 hrs so can’t til tomorrow to try it! Thank you so much!
Did you know that the name of the vegetable is Brussels sprouts? I believe they’re named after the capital of Belgium. I would love to see the missing “s” added to “Brussel.” 🙂
Any idea how many carbs in a serving?
Hoe many servings is this recipe?
Oops! How* many
I’d say about 8!
It depends on how big your servings are, but I’d say about 8 servings!
What would be considered a serving? I want to keep it around 300 calories if possible. Thank you for sharing.
Sandra, I am not sure on how many calories are in a serving! I would say 1/2-3/4 cup would be a “serving.”
Great recipe! I’ve only had the cracker barrel version once but this tastes about like I remember. I used about half the amount of craisins and pecans – I used toasted, chopped pecans, maybe the flavor goes further? Easy enough to adjust to taste. The longer this sits in the fridge, the better it gets.
Do you include the hard core of the Brussels Sprouts or remove it? Use a chopper to chop both Brussels Sprouts and Kale. Is there an easier method?
Hi John! We slice the hard core off of the end of the Brussel sprouts and throw it away. Then you can either slice the Brussel sprouts and kale by hand, or even use a food processor to chop them to the desired size!
I love the salad at CB & couldn’t figure what is in the dressing (my husband says it’s too sweet). I made about half the recipe & it tastes great. Next time I will use my food processor because I think CB’s pieces are smaller. I also think letting the salad sit a few hours will improve it.

I couldn’t find craisens anywhere, so I used some frozen blueberries I had on hand. Otherwise, everything was as directed, and certainly just as delicious as Cracker Barrell’s version! Thank you so much for the recipe!!
Awesome!!
I am addicted to this salad! Not only is it fresh and delicious, but it’s so easy to make because everything except the kale is on hand already. I usually leave out the brussel sprouts to quicken the process, and love adding fun ingredients to vary it up- like sliced strawberries, sunflower seeds, and feta! What a fabulous recipe! THANK YOU!
Great ideas to change it up!
you destroy the healthy nutrition value-adding dairy into that beautiful salad(unless the feta is dairy-free)
I had the salad at Cracker Barrel last night and tasted celery in it, which I’m ok with leaving out but for celery lovers it is a nice addition
I made this recipe and it was a total hit..I was asked by my guest for the recipe which I gladly shared. I did add the tiniest bit of pure stevia and I do mean tiny….it was DELICIOUS…thank you so much for sharing this recipe…

I made this copycat cracker barrell kale salad using your recipe….the dressing was horrible….just oily and no flavor….I had to “doctor it up” to get it to taste like cracker barrels kale salad….i used dijon mustard, added 3 x’s the maple syrup, and 1/2 the olive oil and apple cider vinegar instead of the ingredients you state in your recipe.
I’ve made it at least 20x (for guests as well) and it’s always been just like Cracker Barrel’s and delicious! ??
Sorry that yours didn’t turn out.
My brother recommended I might like this blog.
He was totally right. This publish actually made my day.
You can not believe just how so much time I had spent for this info!
Thanks!
