DIY Wood Sign With Galvanized Metal Letters
Today’s post features a project our Mom recently made. Woot-woot! Yes, she’s super crafty, too, and I do believe we got our craftiness from her! She came up with these awesome wood signs for our church fellowship hall, and we all just love how they turned out! And, honestly, I think you’re going to be surprised how EASY this is to make! Even if you don’t consider yourself a crafty person, YOU CAN DO THIS!! If you’ve never done a diy wood project like this, here you go. . . make this your first one!
These Scripture verses all come from I Thessalonians chapter 5. They are such short little verses, yet so powerful, and great truths we need to remember on a daily basis.

DIY WOOD SIGN WITH GALVANIZED METAL LETTERS
Here’s what you need:
5/8″ thick wood (4 pieces each 25.25″ x 3.25″ / total size after put together is 25.25″ x 13.25″)
galvanized letters (these ones pictured are from Hobby Lobby, and you cannot beat the sale price when they are 50% off!)
Sharpie oil-based paint marker, white
chalk (for transferring designs to your wood)
free printable word templates*
*These will print on 2-3 pages each. You’ll need to overlap the pages some and tape together to make one large template. Make sure you line up the letters, not the pages.
Start by cutting your wood to the correct length. (Again, ours pictured here are 4 pieces of wood each 25.25″ x 3.25″ / total size after put together is 25.25″ x 13.25″)
Attach all 4 wood pieces together. Use these 5-gallon paint stirrers to hold your 4 pieces together. They work perfectly for this!
On what will be the back of the project, attach the paint stirrers perpendicular to your horizontal wood pieces.
Next attach your metal letters.
They do come with a metal triangle hanger, but Mom added some dots of hot glue to keep them more in place.
Next, transfer the text to your wood. (Click on the images below to download.)
THIS IS BY FAR THE EASIEST WAY TO TRANSFER YOUR DESIGN ONTO WOOD:

Blow off excess chalk and paint design on with your Sharpie oil-based paint marker.
It’s that easy!
