We have a few free knit dishcloth patterns on our site, and they are pretty popular, so I thought I’d give you another free knit dishcloth pattern. This one is a little unique. It’s a beautiful 12-point star round knit dishcloth. I think you’ll find it fun to make!

What you need for this dishcloth:
- knitting needles size 8
- 100% cotton yarn
- yarn needle for finishing off

12-Point Star Knit Dishcloth Pattern
Materials
- 1 skein cotton yarn, about 2 oz.
- size 8 straight knitting needles
Instructions
- Start by casting on 16 stitches.
- K4, YO, K10, turn and knit back. (you now have 17 stitches on your needle)
- ROW 1- slip 1st stitch, K3, YO, K10, turn and knit back.
- ROW 2- slip 1st stitch, K3, YO, K9, turn and knit back.
- ROW 3- slip 1st stitch, K3, YO, K8, turn and knit back.
- ROW 4- slip 1st stitch, K3, YO, K7, turn and knit back.
- ROW 5- slip 1st stitch, K3, YO, K6, turn and knit back.
- ROW 6- bind off 5 stitches, knit to the end of the row
- ROW 7- Knit across.
- Repeat rows 1-7 until there are 12 points.
- Bind off. Leave a long tail of yarn to use to sew together to form a circle with 12 points.
Notes
Something helpful I found was knowing how many stitches should be left on the needles before turning in rows 1-5.
ROW 1- 3 stitches left
ROW 2- 5 stitches left
ROW 3- 7 stitches left
ROW 4- 9 stitches left
ROW 5- 11 stitches left
