Oreo Cupcakes
Ingredients
Cupcakes
- 1 chocolate box cake mix
- 1 small instant chocolate pudding
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup oil
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Frosting and Filling
- 2 8oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 2lb bag powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 8oz tub cool whip
- 12 finely crushed Oreos
Instructions
Cupcakes
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Beat all ingredients, except the chocolate chips, for 2 minutes. Fold in chips.
- Fill cupcake liners half full. Bake for about 16 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Let cool completely. (I like to make mine a day or more ahead of time and put them in the freezer immediately after cooling. This method keeps them very moist.)
Filling and Frosting
- Beat cream cheese and vanilla until smooth. Beat in powdered sugar. Fold in cool whip and crushed Oreos. Refrigerate for an hour before decorating cupcakes.
Assembly
- Fill cupcakes and pipe a mound on top.
- Decorate with an extra half Oreo.
- Keep refrigerated for best results.

Fill the cupcakes with icing like a hostess cupcake! I will be using the end of a kitchen utensil to pipe the icing into the cupcake then will frost the top! I always use less powdered sugar probably a 1/2 lb and only one block of cream cheese and a lid full of vanilla extract. The sweetness is perfect. We can always modify icings and frostings. It’s all about taste and what your preference is. Can’t wait to see the results!!
These Oreo cupcakes are incredible! So moist and full of flavor. Very easy to make. Does take some time though. Can’t wait to try another recipe of yours.
Made these cupcakes today and they are good but way too sweet and following this icing recipe I threw half of it away. The cook time on the cupcakes is more like 20-25 minutes as well. I would suggest you cut the icing recipe in and then half the powered sugar as well. Mot sure what “fill the cupcakes” means since they are solid???
Frosting fell right off the cupcakes. Followed the recipe to a T. Left in the fridge for an hour. Do not recommend.
The frosting is way too sweet. I recommend using a different recipe

Made these last year for my son’s birthday and they were a big hit! Making them again this year and I am using the same cake recipe but instead of adding Oreos to the icing I will be splitting the batch and coloring them red, black and white for a Pokémon ball cupcakes. Tried and true recipe!

Yes my frosting tastes great but is runny as well. It’s probably not going to pipe it on the cupcakes.
Hi is there any way that I dont need 2lbs of sugar. Would it taste weird to put 1lb of sugar in it.
How long can these be frozen for?
These unfrosted cupcakes can be frozen for a couple months. I like to wrap them in plastic wrap and then place them in an air tight container in the freezer. It gives them some extra protection and they always taste great…. you can’t even tell they were frozen!
We do not recommend freezing frosted cupcakes.

This recipe makes 30-36 standard size cupcakes.
