Copycat Chick Fil A Grilled Chicken Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich
Marinated and grilled chicken breast, served on a toasted bun with Colby Jack cheese, brown sugar-and-pepper-seasoned bacon, and romaine lettuce and topped with sweet zesty BBQ sauce – tastes just like Chick-fil-A’s Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich!
Wow – this sandwich is jam-packed with flavor and tastes just like Chick Fil A’s! This sandwich is a seasonal item, so you won’t even be able to order it there past summer. With this recipe, you can make it at home all year round at a fraction of the price. It’s a great idea for your next barbecue or family gathering. Simple ingredients, easy prep, and big flavor make this sandwich a winner!
To make 8 sandwiches, you’ll need:
3 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breasts
3/4 c. Italian dressing
1 lb. bacon
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. pepper
8 slices Colby Jack cheese
8 leaves romaine lettuce
1 bottle BBQ sauce (we used Kroger’s sweet and zesty)
8 hamburger buns
For the chicken:
Cut each chicken breast in half and pound with a meat tenderizer.
Marinate the chicken in the Italian dressing for 30 minutes.
Grill on medium high for 5-6 minutes per side.
For the bacon:
Lay strips of bacon on cookie sheet covered with parchment paper.
Mix the brown sugar and pepper together, and press mixture into each slice of bacon.
Bake at 350 F for 25-30 minutes or until crispy. Remove from pan and let cool slightly.
For the buns:
Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
Place the top halves of the buns in the butter (flat side down) and toast for 3-4 minutes or until golden and crispy.
To assemble the sandwich, take the bottom bun and place the lettuce leaf on top. Next place the chicken, then a slice of cheese, then 2 strips of bacon. Finish it off with the BBQ sauce. Add the top toasted bun and enjoy!

- BBQ sauce (preferred - Kroger's sweet and zesty)
- 8 hamburger buns
Instructions

- Remove from pan and let cool slightly.
For the buns

- Place the top halves of the buns in the melted butter (flat side down) and toast for 3-4 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Assemble the sandwich
- Place romaine lettuce leaf on bottom bun.
- Layer chicken, a slice of cheese, and bacon.
- Top with BBQ sauce and toasted top bun.
Serve up this sandwich with this delicious Chick-fil-A lemonade!
