This DIY carpet cleaner concentrate will lift stains of pets, kids, coffee, soda, mud and all of the messes that run through our house day to day. Likely, you use some of these cleaning products regularly anyway… you just need small amounts of each one to make a gallon of concentrate. It is such a savings! You are going to save a LOT of money.
This concentrate is literally the best. You will be amazed at how well the stains come out that you will never need another recipe. You’ll be making a batch of this year after year.
I have 5 kids and live in the country… a lot of my floors are vinyl, thankfully! But the areas that we have carpet (all the bedrooms) and my large area rugs need a good cleaning often. I like to keep them looking AND smelling clean and this cleaner does both! Also, that tiny little bit of Downy keeps them feeling so so soft, too.
What is nice about this cleaner is that you use it as a concentrate (add 1/4 cup to a gallon of hot water) in any of your steam mops. It also works in a Rug Doctor that you can rent at most grocery stores and Dollar General stores! A little goes a long way, so this jug will make a lot of gallons.
I use a simple funnel to make the job of mixing the ingredients less messy.

HOW TO PRE-TREAT A STAIN:
If you need to treat a really tough stain prior to cleaning the floor, simply mix the concentrate and water 50/50, and dab it into the stain with you fingertips. Allow to sit for 20-30 minutes before cleaning.
DIY Carpet Cleaner
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Fabuloso all purpose cleaner
- 1 scoop Oxiclean stain remover (about 1 Tbs)
- 1 tsp Downy fabric softener
- 1 tsp Dawn dish soap
- Hot water
Instructions
- In a gallong jug, mix Fabuloso, Oxiclean, and Downy. Add a small amount of hot water and swirl until it is all dissolved and mixed together.
- Add hot water until the jug is about 1/4 from the top.
- Then add the dishsoap. Continue to fill until just shy of the top.
- When ready to clean, measure out 1/4 cup per gallon of water and use in your favorite carpet steam cleaner.
- Enjoy your fresh carpets!!
