Spruce up your little girl’s flip flops to look patriotic for the Fourth of July this year! This project fits anyone’s budget . . . find flip flops for $1 at Old Navy (during their great sale) OR at Wal-Mart (that’s where I got mine!) I love how this pair looks like fireworks – perfect for the Fourth š And this project is a ‘no-sew project’ so even if you don’t sew, you can still do this fun project!
DIY Kids Patriotic Flip Flops
I don’t know about you . . . but in the summer I practically LIVE in my flip flops! And this summer, we moved to Arizona so I’m loving my flip flops even more this year š If you get a little tired of your ‘plain’ flip flops every day, consider sprucing them up a bit with some fabric (or trims as in this tutorial).
For this easy-peasy project you will need – –
- a pair of flip flops ($1 at Old Navy or Wal-Mart)
- fabric (1 Fat Quarter)
First, cut 20 strips of fabric – each strip 6″ long and 1″ wide.
Next, tie the strips of fabric onto the bands. Arrange the strips as you go, making sure they are evenly spaced. Be sure to tie the fabric with double knots š
Cut 20 more strips and tie them onto the other flip flop.
Finally, arrange the strips of fabric however you want! I pushed mine all the way up to the top of my flip flop bands but you can do whatever you want š
That’s it! Now you have a cute and festive pair of flip flops – I think these are so cute on a little girl š
You could make these with any color of flip flop and fabric – any bright colors would be super cute for summer!!
If you’re looking for a flip flop makeover idea that’s a little less kid-friendly š , check out this tutorial!
