Looking for DIY Home Decor Dollar Store or DIY Home Decor on a Budget?
This Gold Vase with Textured Dots is made with just a leftover metal canister, hot glue, and gold spray paint.
I started out with a metal container from these cookies from Dollar Tree. I didn’t want to throw it away, knowing it’d be good for SOMEthing someday, and it worked perfectly for this project! You can also use a glass object for this, you’ll just want to make sure you get a spray paint that says that it works on glass.
After heating my glue gun and making sure the canister was clean and dry, I started making little rounded dots of hot glue on the canister, being careful to “swirl” the little strings at the end so I didn’t have tiny strings of hot glue stretching from dot to dot. I also wiped the tip of the glue gun on the bottom of the canister occasionally so the gun tip stayed clear and clean to make the dots.
Do one line of dots, like this, then rotate the canister and do another line. That way the dots will all dry before you rotate the canister to avoid dripping.
Continue until the whole canister is covered with dots!
Once all the glue dots are completely dry, use a spray paint that works on metal (just check the back of the can). Lightly spray in a sweeping motion and apply a second coat if needed.
And your vase is finished! I added pink flowers and it made this vase perfect for my guest room. Instead of using it as a vase, you could also use it as a cute pencil holder on a desk, or as a gift holder for a gift card or candy.
