Planning a wedding or party that you need a glitzy cake stand for?
This one is easy, inexpensive, and sparkles like a million dollars! š
Cake stands can be so expensive. And when you’re planning a wedding on a budget, trying to save in these little things helps cover those things that can’t be skimped on!
The good thing is, this cake stand looks like you spent a LOT of money on it even though it just takes a few supplies from Hobby Lobby.
- terra cotta pots (look like this)
- metallic gold spray paint (like this one)
- wood circle or gold charger (the smaller ones on the sides use gold chargers, the big one in the center uses a wood circle 2-3 inches larger than your biggest cake)
- glue
- sparkly rhinestone trim
For the center large cake stand:
Start by spraying 3 terra cotta pots and the wood circle with the gold spray paint. It may take a couple coats.
Then take your wooden circle and flip it over, and place the 3 pots proportionally on it, like the 3 legs of a stool would be.
Glue the pots to the wooden circle with your favorite strong glue. (Not Elmers – you’ll need a strong glue like Gorilla Glue)
Add the sparkly rhinestone trim around the edge of the circle, I used hot glue and it worked perfectly. Depending on the thickness of your wood circle, you may have to trim the rhinestone trim down to the width of the thickness of the wood. It’s super easy to do that – just trim with a pair of scissors.
For the side smaller cake stands:
Start by spraying 1 terra cotta pots with the gold spray paint.
Take a gold charger and flip it over, and glue the pot directly in the center of the charger, using a strong glue.
You can use this as is, or add another charger to the bottom.
These DIY wedding cake stands would also be great for a wedding shower, baby shower, anniversary party, birthday party – anything you need a heightened plate for. You can put cake on it, as well as things like cookies, cake pops, cupcakes like these Oreo ones or these PB Lovers ones, and more!
