DIY Pretty Thumbtacks!
TURN YOUR PLAIN THUMBTACKS INTO GLAMOROUS ONES IN JUST A FEW MINUTES!
EASY, QUICK, PRETTY!
This was such a fun and easy project, and I love how glitzy my bulletin board near my computer area looks with this extra little touch! I love the color blush, so when I saw these self-adhesive blush-colored pearls at Michaels Arts & Crafts store, I grabbed them and knew I’d figure out something fun and pretty to do with them! They had been sitting on my computer desk for a week, and my bulletin board is right next to my desk….I finally put two-and-two together and came up with these glamorous pretty thumbtacks!
Amazon has self-adhesive pearls like THESE in white, but I prefer these blush ones – what about you??
HOW TO MAKE PRETTY THUMBTACKS
The first thing I did to start making these pretty thumbtacks was to collect my old thumbtacks — I had a combination of plastic covered and all-metal, and I’ll tell you don’t bother with plastic! The metal were much easier to work with!
The next thing I did was paint the tops of my thumbtacks so that if some of the thumbtack showed, the color would be the same. This was really easy! ![]()
An easy way to get these to stand up to dry (& to paint the edges without touching them) is to stick them into something — I had a roll of masking tape nearby, so that’s what I used! 🙂
When the thumbtacks were dry, I simply stuck the self-adhesive pearls onto them in different arrangements, since I had a variety of sizes. Ta-da! So pretty!!
I love how my pretty thumbtacks make my bulletin board look so much more “my style” now! And it was so easy!
