DIY Washi Tape Utensil Holder
Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m so excited to share this little DIY washi tape utensil holder project I did recently š
I was out shopping with my mom and sisters last week . . . we popped in Bed Bath & Beyond and I found this little white ceramic holder thing on clearance for $2.99 PLUS 20% off of that! I was so excited š Also, a few weeks ago I was in Michael’s (scrounging through the clearance bins once again) and I came across a package of Washi tape (original price is $14.99) – the plastic tube was broken and one of the eight tapes was missing. I took it up to the register and asked the cashier if it was on clearance – there was no clearance sticker but I thought at least I would try :-). It was still full price BUT she said she would give it to me 70% off since it was damaged! I was so excited š I ended up getting 7 coordinating spools of Washi tape for less than $5!! I’ve kind been on a Washi tape addiction for the past couple weeks . . .
I decided this ceramic thing (what is it – a ‘dish’ or a ‘holder’? I don’t know) would be super cute as a pencil/pen/brush holder. I think it has the perfect shape for holding utensils!
Ok so let’s get on to the project . . .
DIY Washi Tape Utensil Holder
Supplies:
- ceramic dish
- Washi tape
- Mod Podge (optional)
I started by flipping the holder over and taping from the bottom up. When I got to the top, I left about 1/4″ to overlap over the top rim. When you put the tape on, make sure you get all the bubbles and wrinkles out as you go.
I kept taping from the bottom up until I had the front section covered in Washi tape stripes, keeping the ends over the top all the same length.
I decided I only wanted to cover the front half of mine, so I stopped when it looked like the front had enough stripes.
*Optional – if you want to seal this to make sure your Washi tape will not budge, cover the tape in a thin layer of Mod Podge to seal it.
This is such a cute idea – it would be such a fun back-to-school project!
