I have looked all over and I can’t seem to find a tutorial on how to make fabric rosettes that look like these! I’ve been making these rosettes for a long time – we sell American Girl doll dresses on our Etsy shop and one of the dresses we make has these adorable flowers around the neckline 🙂 They are seriously so easy to make – I can whip these rosettes out in no time!
The rosettes I’ve made here are out of satin. I made two different sizes – one slightly larger than the other.
I wanted my finished rosettes to be 1 3/4″ and 1 1/2″ (diameter) – so I cut the fabric circles out twice as big as the desired finished size.
Which means I cut my circles out 3 1/2″ and 3″ (diameter) 😉
Thread your needle and weave it in and out as close to the edge of the fabric circle as possible.
Continue weaving your needle in and out around the edge of the rosette. While you are weaving it, gently tug on the thread. Your circle will start forming a rosette.
When you get to the end of your circle, gently pull on the thread until the circle closes up, forming a rosette!
Now, tie off your thread as usual to finish it off.
If you want to add some bling, feel free to add some pearls or buttons or whatever you want!
