I love the advantages of a mini crib! I have one that looks just like this. So adorable. š The tiny little baby isn’t swallowed up in a big bed, and it takes up so much less room in small bedrooms. I love my side changing table and little drawers, so convenient for diapering and dressing. But one thing I’ve found… it is DIFFICULT to get cute bedding at a good price. Problem solved if you can convert a regular size crib sheet into a mini crib sheet! This tutorial will guide you through it…. you’ll be surprised how easy and quick it is to do!
MINI CRIB SHEET TUTORIAL
Supplies needed:
- regular size crib sheet (I really love this one!!!)
- mini crib mattress (This looks like a good one.)
- 1 1/2 yd, 3/8″ elastic
- matching thread
- scissors
- safety pin
- ruler or tape measure
Step 1:
Using sewing scissors, cut off the elastic band all the way around the sheet.
And cut up each corner seam to the point, to make the sheet lay flat.
Step 2:
Lay the sheet flat on the floor and place your mini crib mattress on top. Measure the height of your mattress. Add 3″ to this and draw a line all the way around. My mattress was about 3″ tall, so I drew a line around the entire sheet 6″ from the mattress. Cut along the line you have drawn to cut away the excess. Like this:
Step 3:
Cut out the corners as in the picture above. I cut out 6″ square corners.
Step 4:
Placing right sides of the fabric together, sew your corner seams.
I stitched mine, and then followed with a zig zag stitch so I don’t have to worry about it fraying in the wash.
Step 5:
Once you’ve sewed all 4 corners, fold under and press 3/8″ all the way around the unfinished edge.
Step 6:
Now fold and press another 1/2″ all the way around to form a casing for the elastic. Stitch, leaving a small open to insert the elastic.
Step 7:
Hook the safety pin on one end of the elastic, and begin feeding it through the casing all the way around the sheet. Feed it all the way through until it comes back out.
Step 8:
Now sew the 2 ends of the elastic together and stitch the opening closed.
That’s it!!! You’ve done it. Now try it on the mattress!
Mine is a perfect fit. Now I can’t wait to get a ruffled crib skirt!
Whereād you find the changing pad?? Canāt find one small enough to fit my mini crib
I just purchased a regular size cover, wrapped it snugly around the foam, and safety pinned it together underneath. āŗļø
