WHY A MONTHLY GOAL PLANNER?
So many of us start the new year with a mental list of goals that we’d like to accomplish.
It can be overwhelming planning a whole year, and while I find that that’s great for big-picture planning, it’s also SO important to break the year down into months if you really want to achieve your goals this year!
For me, monthly goals are FAR MORE reasonable to aspire to than yearly goals.
My personal plan is to take it one month at a time, with the idea of adding more goals to my monthly goal planner each month, as well as forming more habits each month.
With this monthly goal planner, I can keep up with a month-by-month plan, and this way, I can look back over my year and see how much I’ve accomplished instead of despairing that I failed yet again.
TAKE IT ONE MONTH AT A TIME
With this month-by-month plan, it’s OK if you teeter out on a certain “daily goal” that month – you’ll print next month’s Monthly Goal Planner Worksheet and get back at it with a fresh start.
Who says you have to wait for a new year for a new start??
FILL OUT YOUR MONTHLY GOALS PLANNER WITH PRACTICAL GOALS
When you start filling out your Goal Planner, don’t overdo it!
It’s great to have a LOT of goals, but think reasonably and remember that you can build off of this first month’s set of goals and habits.
I start my January Goal Planner with only about 1/4 of the lines filled out — I want to have a handful of goals that I know I can accomplish and a few good habits that I know I can form in just one month.
Then next month, I’ll step it up a bit. Slow and steady wins the race, yes?!
DON’T STRESS OVER UNFINISHED GOALS ON YOUR GOALS WORKSHEET
It’s OK to have things to do, places to go, projects to finish, and projects to start on your Monthly Goal Planner that you just don’t get to this month — next month, transfer the unfinished goals right on over to the new month’s worksheet and aim for it again!
If you end up with a lot of unfinished goals, you’ll know that when you transfer them next month, you can’t add too many more if you expect to get them done.
That’s the great thing about having month-by-month goals — you go at your own pace, and if things come up, you’re totally flexible and free of stress!
Good luck! Let’s do this! 😉
