Rich and creamy pistachio hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and crunchy pistachios

A couple weeks ago, I shared the recipe for the Copycat Starbucks Pistachio Latte with you! My husband & I have made several of those over the past few weeks . . . . 😉

We love hot chocolate too when it’s snowy outside, and we got SO much snow in January. Last Sunday we even had to cancel church since the roads were so bad, and while we were snowed in I came up with this tasty Pistachio Hot Chocolate. 

As soon as my 2 year old daughter saw the whipped cream piled high on the cup, she was all about tasting that drink. Of course she loved it – so now we make our drinks during nap time to avoid her stealing them 😛

I made this drink with a high quality hot chocolate mix as the base, but if you have a favorite homemade hot chocolate . . . you could start with that instead.

You could also make a batch of our favorite Hot Chocolate Mix to keep on hand, and that would work great to make this pistachio hot chocolate.

This recipe uses the same pistachio extract that the copycat Starbucks latte uses . . . works out perfectly that it can be used for both drinks!

Pistachio Hot Chocolate

Yield: 2 drinks

Rich and creamy pistachio flavored hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and crunchy pistachios

Ingredients

• 2 packets hot chocolate mix
• 1.5 cups hot water
• 1/3 cup half and half
• 1 tsp pistachio flavoring
• canned whipped cream
• 2 T crushed pistachios

Instructions

1. Mix all ingredients together except the whipped cream and crushed pistachios.
2. Whisk well until blended.
3. Top with whipped cream and crushed pistachios.
