Tassel Wall Hanging DIY – Woodland Nursery Decor

Easy tassel wall hanging for a woodland nursery – yarn feathers and yarn braid in neutral colors

I love baby boy woodland decor! Little girl nurseries are just as fun, but there is something about decorating a room for a little man šŸ™‚ I fell in love with this CUTE sheet for the crib, and decorated everything else around that.

I found the woodland animal printables on Etsy, and put them in some frames I found at Dollar Tree. I think they are perfect for his room šŸ™‚

I thought making some type of macrame or yarn hanging decoration would work great for under the frames, so I asked my husband to bring a nice branch home šŸ˜€ . . . and I finally got around to coming up with this cute boho style wall hanging.

I started by cutting long strands of the cream yarn for all the hanging strands. I wanted mine to hang about 12 inches, so I cut 112 24-inch pieces.

I then took those 112 strands and separated them into groups of 8. You will now have 14 groups of 8.

Then simply attach all 14 groups to a stick or dowel rod, using a simple larks head knot. If you aren’t sure how to do that, you can find an explanation here

Then I made one gray feather, and one rust feather. You can find how to do that with this tutorial – BUT I frayed each yarn on the feather. To fray the strands, simply pull them apart gently with your fingers.

Remember, the best part of this project is to just be creative and make it your own creation!

If you want 5 feathers, make 5. Choose whatever colors you want to match your room where you are hanging it. The choices are endless, and it will make it so special that you made it the way you wanted it!

I had seen a wall hanging with a yarn braid and knew I wanted to add one of those into my wall hanging.

Just cut strands as long as you want your braid to be, tie them at the top, braid them. Then tie again at the bottom when you are finished. So easy. I used gray and cream both in my braid.

Lastly, fasten your feathers and braid on to the stick using strand of yarn. Try different ways of arranging them on your wall hanging and see what looks best!
