The Best Electronic Gifts for Big Boys
Great Gift Ideas for Boys!
Are you in the middle of Christmas shopping? If you’re looking for gifts for bigger boys who love electronics, really anywhere from ages 6-14, here are some great ideas!
My oldest son and I went through the things he has had over the last few years that he has loved and that we both highly recommend, so these are not just random products that we’re not familiar with. These gift ideas listed below are perfect for bigger boys that are into electronics and tech stuff. š¤
(By the way, these are totally great for girls that love electronics too – I just have experience with my son enjoying these and my daughter not as much since electronics are not her thing.) š
Andd….if you need to keep the boys busy while you’re shopping online, they’ll love our straw rocket craft!

HERE ARE SOME OF OUR FAVORITE ELECTRONIC/TECH GIFTS FOR KIDS:
Makey Makey Invention Kit
Makey Makey lets you turn anything into a keyboard! You alligator-clip objects to the Makey Makey, which is plugged into a computer.
Use fruits or vegetables, play-doh or a pencil, pennies or paper clips!
There are 1,000’s of projects and plans on the Makey Makey site that boys will love to do!
Bitsbox
Bitsbox is a learning system that teaches REAL coding. It’s a monthly subscription plan that sends kids a variety of coding projects to try!
They can copy apps, change them to make them their own, and share their apps on any mobile device! It’s really exciting!
(Now THIS one my daughter loves just as much as my son does. š)
Electronic Snap Circuits
This STEM set comes with lots of electronic parts + an instruction manual on how to build a variety of working electronic circuits and devices! Just snap the parts together onto the base board to create an electronic circuit – no soldering or tools or anything tricky!
Start with a Snap Circuits Junior for beginners/younger kids…..or go with a classic Snap Circuits set (they do have a PRO set as well)!
Potato Clock
Potato clocks are so fun! This teaches kids how to find out what other substances they can use as batteries, so they can let their imaginations flow!
Remote Control Bounce Car
This toy is awesome because it can bounce over 30 inches into the air! It has shock-proof wheels and can do really fast 90-, 180-, and 360-degree spins.
When my son gets this out, the whole family is entertained because it zips around the house so fast and makes funny sounds. š It did take a couple of hours to get good steering control over this one, so it’s better for ages 10 and up I think. But boy is this car a big hit!!
Repurpose a used soda can into a fully functional robot! How fun!
Terra Climber Radio Control Vehicle
My son got the Terra Climber 3 years ago and it’s still going strong after climbing plenty of stairs, rocks, and hills!
What’s neat about this vehicle (that actually looks and acts like some type of creature!) is that it can climb on/over anything!
JEYPOD Remote Control Car
This little car ZIPS around sooo fast! It’s pretty hilarious to see the speed that it can do! š We’ve had it for over a year with no problems at all.
