READY FOR AN EASY DIY FALL WOODEN PUMPKINS TUTORIAL?
How about this adorable Chic Rustic trio of wooden pumpkins? They use scrap wood and are easy to whip up in just a short time with a few simple tools. I’m absolutely in love with these grungy white and gold pumpkins.
I love being able to use up scraps of wood for something purposeful. It’s satisfying to put to use ‘extras’ that you’ve saved in the past, not to mention, being able to make something for almost nothing! If you have the room, save those scraps, you never know when they will come in handy. These DIY Wooden Pumpkins are a fun weekend craft you can do with things you probably already have on hand!

EASY DIY FALL DECOR IDEAS

HOW DO I MAKE DIY WOODEN PUMPKINS?
I’ll give basic instructions and then show several pictures of the process below. Hope you will try making them and adding them to your fall decor this year!
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- 2×4 scraps- cut to 3 different heights (I cut mine at 4 1/2″, 5 1/2″, & 7 1/2″)
- gold spray paint
- white acrylic paint
- paint brush
- sander
- polyurethane
- branch
- super glue
- lace and ribbon
Step 1: Cut the corners of your blocks to give it a slightly rounded look, and then sand entire pumpkin, giving extra sanding to edges and corners.
Step 2: Spray with gold spray paint and allow to dry.
Step 3: Paint white acrylic paint over the gold and allow to dry.
Step 4: Lightly sand some of the white paint off, allowing the gold paint to show through. Give a little more sanding to the edges to show more gold there. Sand to the desired distressed grunge look.
Step 5: Coat with one coat of polyurethane and allow to dry.
Step 6: Cut 3 stems from your branch and attach to the tops of the pumpkins with super glue.
Step 7: Decorate as you please! I tied a mixture of lace, ribbon, burlap and raffia around the stems.

this is a dumb question – how did you cut the rounded edges – I am trying to make these for someone and I am failing
I used a table saw to lop off the corners and used a mouse sander to sand the edges and points down. It takes quite a bit of sanding!! Wishing you success. 😉
